The city is a magnet and attracts millions of visitors from all over the world every year. Many of them keep coming back because they can’t get enough of this colourful and vibrant metropolis, which is home to the Statue of Liberty and is affectionately called the Big Apple by its inhabitants.
The list of things you can see and experience in New York is almost endless. Ten of the city’s most important sights include the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the Rockefeller Center’s observation deck, the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square (tip: visit in the evening or at night!), the Wall Street stock exchange, Central Park (the backdrop of numerous New York films), the High Line park (a freight train route more than two kilometres long, converted into a park – not to be missed!), Chinatown, and, a more recent addition, One World Trade Center with the National 9/11 Memorial. You’ll need plenty of time if you want to visit all these places; or plan to return!
