Of course there’s The Eye, The Tower of London and Buckingham Palace, but if you want to experience London in its purest form, look no further than bacon, baked beans, sausages and eggs.

We’ve heard one of the best fry-ups in the British capital comes courtesy of Speedy’s Cafe on North Gower Street in Central London. Speedy’s doesn’t do bells and whistles, but it does do amazing grilled tomatoes, mushroom and fried bread.

Be prepared to eat elbow-to-elbow with a cafe full of TV-loving tourists: Speedy’s was the venue frequented by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, Sherlock Holmes and Watson, respectively, in BBC1’s Sherlock.

Fly to London from Canberra with a single stopover with Singapore Airlines or Qatar Airways.
