In the future, easyJet will be servicing their airplanes at Schönefeld themselves. With so-called line maintenance, the airline is establishing a new area of business at the location of the upcoming Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Routine maintenance work is set to be carried out by an on-site team from early summer 2020. To this end, easyJet will be hiring 80 new employees locally. Maintenance engineers and support staff are wanted. Tasks in line maintenance involve short scheduled maintenances and troubleshooting overnight, as well as assignments and unplanned repairs during the day, for example in cases of an AOG (aircraft on ground; for when an aircraft is unfit for flight due to technical reasons). easyJet’s new maintenance station is the first outside of Great Britain.
