Berlin’s airports have once again set a new passenger record in 2019, indeed for the ninth year in a row. Numbers surpassed the 35 million mark this year for the first time. Put more precisely: Tegel and Schönefeld airports handled 35,645,005 passengers according to the preliminary travel report for the year 2019. This represents an increase of 2.6% on the previous year.
Passenger numbers for the year 2019 were distributed as follows:
At Tegel Airport, 24,227,570 passengers were processed, 10.1% more than the previous year. In contrast, Schönefeld Airport recorded a decrease in passengers in comparison to the previous year. 11,417,435 passengers passed through Schönefeld’s arrivals or departures, 10.3% less than in 2018.
